The time is upon us to get geared up for the 2022 Colby Cheese Days Race: Run for Jamison. This event consists of a 1-mile Kids Run, 5K Run/Walk, 10K Race, and Jamison Kampmeyer Memorial Mile hosted on Saturday, July 16th in conjunction with Colby Cheese Days in Colby, WI. We are so lucky to host this fun-filled family event and would like to offer the opportunity, for you or your business, to help us kick off this race as a sponsor and supporter of our community. The 2021 race proceeds of $5,942.25 were donated to the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial. This is Race Director Liz and the committee’s seventh year directing the race, along with cooperation from the Abby/Colby Chamber. We would like to host a great event, with your help, to honor our fallen hero Lt. Jamison Kampmeyer and his family.
Lt. Jamison Kampmeyer was killed in the line of duty as a member of the Colby Fire Department. Jamison, 34, was a loving husband, father to 3 young boys, Firefighter, EMT, SWAT team member, and a Deputy with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Dept. Jamison was also an avid runner, who participated in the 10k run during Cheese Days for many years. Jamison embodied the spirit of giving in both his professional and personal life. He leaves a legacy as a dedicated public servant and true hero who touched the lives of many. Jamison is greatly missed and will never be forgotten. So to honor his legacy and remember his spirit, we Run for Jamison.
Proceeds from this year’s race will be donated to the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundations (PFFWCF) Burn Survivor Support Program. This organization provides meaningful support to burn survivors of all ages and in all stages of recovery. To learn more about PFFWCF, visit www.pffwcf.org.
